Open Question: Philanthropic or other grants to write a book?

Can anyone help with handy hints on how to get philanthropic or other grants to support me while I write a book? I am in the process of writing a book of general interest. It involves an original idea that gives a radical critique of feminism and patriarchy, as well as a new and interesting slant on many topics to do with sex, families, marriage, child support, prostitution, casual sex, anthropology, psychology, sexual politics, and men's liberation. Everyone I have explained the thesis to, male and female, have said it is very interesting and thought-provoking and I definitely should write a book about it. It has been rolling around inside my head for years and I am making heavy weather of drafting it in my little spare time.
